M.A. Clinical Psychology: Marriage and Family Therapy, Pepperdine University (In Progress)
B.A. Biblical and Theological Studies, Houston Baptist University
Jerell is a graduate student studying Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) at Pepperdine University. Jerell is currently seeking to glorify God by serving as an MFT trainee at Journeys Counseling Ministry and other service providers.
Jerell obtained his B.A. in Biblical and Theological Studies at Houston Baptist University and served on church staff as a Mission Associate both in Houston, TX, and Las Vegas, NV for several years. Jerell is currently one of the preachers at his local church in the Compton/Long Beach area where he is also serving as the director of the youth ministry. Jerell has a little over 10 years of experience serving individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. He feels called to specifically serve the Black community, individuals in high-risk communities, the unhoused, ministry leaders, and young adults. The Lord has given Jerell a desire to provide individuals of various backgrounds with Biblical solutions to everyday trials. Jerell’s passion for bridging the gap between the Christian faith and Psychology stems from a desire to destigmatize mental health in Black and Brown communities and to help individuals in the church experiencing church-hurt.
Jerell is married to his wife Zulema and looks forward to having a family in the future.
